WEEK 7 RUN 1 16/04/2019

Wow! When some of my inspirational supporters said 7 weeks ago that id be running in no time following the c25k, I remeber thinking yeah right then!

But today I started realising how much I can do this and how quick the last 7 weeks have gone and how much I’ve enjoyed them. Its a bit scary to think in 3 weeks time I’ll no longer have my coach in my ears to train me.

Off down the track I went following my usual route.

I have to be honest when I was told the first 5 minutes had gone, I was sure I’d been running for 20 🤣🤣 so I kept my steady snail pace and that half time bell ringing soom passed along to the last 5 minutes where I realised I felt quiet good, not overly out of breath. Maybe im not pushing myself enough?

It felt good to know I was in the last 60 seconds so much I decided to pick up pace and do a little sprint, plus I was going along the main road with home time traffic so it looked good!

So after reflection ive decided now all my runs are solid runs to try and pick up pace and improve distance etc. Just got to decide do I include my warm up and cool down walk or just start my watch at the run part for a more accurate pace? Decisions, decisions.

Treated myself, again today bought some new tikkaboo shorts ready to take to France inJune with my second 5k race just a week after I need to keep going with training whilst away! Looking forward to a few beach front runs.

WEEK 6 RUN 3 14/4/19

Must be mad I’m on a Birthday weekend away, its 7.30am and im trying yo sneak the kettle on so I can have a cuppa before sneaking out for run without disturbing anyone else in the room.

This weekend has consited of food and drink so feeling a little bit dumpy and in need of some calorie burning, ready for todays intake.

Not sure where Im running to. Were at the Mecure york fairfield manor hotel.

Was hoping the grounds would be big enough to run but there not. Having never stayed in the area im on unknown ground so I spied a path outside the hotel yesturday when we drove out and I am hoping it just goes straight on for about 15 minutes so I can run till the half time bell goes then turn roumd and tun back.

It turns out it dosnt and only lasted the warm up so I turned off down a little road with lots of lovelly little cottages called Skelton.

I’d forgot my water bottle so looked like I was running with a fruit shoot, very classy look but this is a biggy so knew I’d need a drink. Turns out I didnt need a drink as I forgot to take it with me and when I returned to the room a smug looking suzie was sat on the bed drinking it.

Really thought this one would be a struggle a full 25 minutes running but at a steady pace it was ok I even did a little sprint at the last 60 seconds.

Definetly deserve a cooked breakfast this morning before we go out to scarbrough to the sea life centre.

WEEK 6 RUN 2 11/4/19

Another early start this morning. With a busy week needed to get up and out as really dont want to fall behind with runs.

Was egar to use my new garmin forerunner 365 watch id treated myself for an early Birthday present. I have to admit im loving it already and not fully aware of all features yet but sits on wrist so much better than the tom tom spark and GPS kicks in so quick and simple.

Loving the lighter mornings as it means I can use the trail more. Although its still quiet nippy.

Focused on going the distance again not speed and found it quiet ok till the last 5 minutes run.

Decided to keep going along main road in hope to avoid running on hill but still ended up on the hill parallel for the last 5 minutes of run. I will crack the route planning eventually.

Legs did start to feel it from half way up hill but I was determined not to stop till told to and I did it! I have to be honest was glad when I was told I could stop.

Another one down! Away at the weekend and not wanting to go off track so packed my running gear no idea where we are going but sure I’ll find somewhere to run.

6 weeks ago I would have laughed if anyone had said I would be packing running gear to go away with. Its a bit addictive once you start.

WEEK 6 RUN 1 09 /04/19

At first glance it seemed like today was a step back after last weeks last run.

However, from day one ive always said trust the plan. It’s designed like it is for a reason.

Decided today was the day to wear my colourful new Tikaboo outfit since the sun was shining. Not sure where my heads gone!

Todays run was enjoyable but nothing overly exciting.

Another one closer to graduating!

WEEK 5 RUN 3 7/4/19

So today was the day I faced running for 20 whole minutes!

I have to admit it seemed like such a long jump from 8 minute sessions. Was suppose to run yesturday but really wasnt feeling it after a long couple of days so decided early alarm to fit the last run of the week in.

I was begining to doubt I’d do it and wondered if this was going to be my sticking point, if I’m honest I think I was over thinking it at the end of the day whats the worst that could happen?

Decided to try out my new Tikki Tube since it was early and chilli. Think I looked a bit doggie at 7.30am.

If anyone has any advice on how to keep them up please share mine ended up round my neck as kept falling down and had to be removed after 5 minutes as I’d got warm. Maybe I’ll use it as a head band moving forward.

I have to be honest when I was told the first five minutes was up I thought how am I going to possiably do another 15!

So I focused my energy on just keeping going at a comfortable pace, it may not have been the fastest but it got me through full 20 minutes of running for the first time and it felt great to know I’d done it without stopping!

Ready for week 6!

WEEK 5 RUN 2 04/04/19

The plan was an early start and run before hubby went to work, alarm goes off and my butt just dosnt want to get out of bed this morning. So change of plan no matter what I will run this evening!

Not the best of weather this evening and part of me is now thinking I should have just got it over and done with instead of being lazy. Note to ones self running early means you can put fit up later.

Hubby says I dont post enough pictures, to be honest I dont take a good picture normally and im even worse when it comes to selfies but here we go me ready to go at the start. Do you think they will see me coming with this jacket on?

Jacket didnt stay on very long! Got too warm in the warm up walk. Wish the wheather would make its mind up.

I have to admit when I first looked and saw the 8 minutes my first thoughts were what a jump 5 to 8 minutes, this is going to be a tough one. I surprised myself first 8 minutes run not bad legs still feeling ok.

The half time bell seemed to sound so quick it really didnt feel like id done half way yet.

Started the second 8 minute run just before end of trail leading me on to main road. I’m so impressed tonight I was actually going quicker than loads of cars!! They were stood in traffic along the bottom road but thats not the point I felt like I’d raced them.

I really need to learn to time my runs to finish at the bottom of the hill, sanjay decided to inform me I was half way through my last 8 minute run just before turning the corner to the base of the hill. I was determined I wasnt going to stop I would run this 8 minutes out, even up the hill and keep my steady pace even if it was a snails pace, it was not beating me and I did it!! Yay!!!

Taken a sneaky peak at Saturdays goals! Wish I hadn’t now 20 minutes of running, that will be testing but bring it on!!

WEEK 5 RUN 1 – 01/04/19

Today felt surprisingly easier than expected, not sure why and after I did sit and question myself had I done it right.

After a lot of prosecco and a 3 course meal yesturday for Mothersday I have to admit I wasnt looking forward to an early run to begin with and toyed with the idea of going Tuesday evening instead.

However I was up for school run so told my self to buck up, put my gear on and get my butt out there!

Once out I was fine and glad I’d decided to do it. It was a bit nippy again this morning but soon started to warm up. The runs seemed to pass quickley this morning and before I knew it I was on my cool down walk back home. Maybe focusing on covering the distance and not speed is paying off.

I was particulary impressed when Sanji asked if I’d lost weight! Made me chuckle after yesturdays celebrations.

Still cant believe I’m over half way however running a full 5k still seems a long way off, but im trusting the app will get me there.

WEEK 4 RUN 3 30/3/19

If someone would have said I’d be be leaving group Saturday looking forward to pulling on a pair of Tikkiboos (I wouldn’t have even known what these were!) And going off out running 4 weeks ago I would have probably laughed.

But today I was looking forward to it.

Again Im focusing on going the distance not the speed and it seems to be working. Don’t get me wrong I can feel my knees and muscles working but not killing myself as much as I thought I would be.

I love how the app guides you through each week setting the pace and building up it really has helped and would recomend to anyone. I have to admit each and every run on completion leaves me with a sense of achiement and a step closer to my first 5k charity run in May.

Over half way, YAY!!!

WEEK 4 RUN 2 28/3/19

So decided to do an early one. Alarm set for 6am, cuppa and light breakfast of cherries and quark and out the door for 7am. Could have easily rolled over this morning and gone back to sleep but decided to stick to my commitment.

The weather was so deciving this morning. Sunshine was out but once I started I soon realised 5 mintues in I couldn’t feel my fingers (could have done with golves!) and the grass on the fields down the trail were white over.

Considering if a tube would be beneficial fr the early morning runs as I can feel the cold on my lungs.

I am finding particulary morning and evening runs going from cold outside when completed to warm indoors is leaving me with a wheeze, after being asthmatic in past wondering if now may be the time to visit gp regarding inhalers.

Apart from once back in house run went well and its amazing how much I seem to fit into a day when I get up to run early.

WEEK 4 RUN 1 26/3/19

Normally I run on Mondays once Suzie is at nursery but after 2 hours of Zumbathon on Sunday just wasnt feeling it so decided to take a rest day and run Tuesday evening instead.

I have to admit when I looked at what was to come this week I though how am I going to run for 5 whole minutes!!

It seemed such a big jump from 3 but I trusted the app and that I was ready for it.

I feel ive found a steady pace on this run. It may be a slow pace but for me its not about timings and personal bests (yet!) Its about building up to go the distance.

I even ran past someone I knew but was so engrossed in keeping my pace and my music it wasnt till down the road I realised. They must have thought I was so rude!

The last minute of the last 5 minute section ended up on a hill! Seriously need to plan my routes better 🤣🤣. I was determined no stopping no matter how slow and I did it!! Just wish the commentator wouldnt inform me at half way its amazing how long 2 1/2 minutes can seem.

Ive signed up for what will be my first 5k in May, was signed up for one in June but found an earlier one, the app takes me up to 2 weeks before so hoping I’ll be ready by then. Will keep going it seems to be working!
