5/3/2019 – week 1 run 2!

Legs still feeling a little achy from run 1 (not sure if thats normal or I need to invest in more supportive foot wear) maybe ill use the latter as an excuse to go shopping. 🙂 The chesty cold continues but is going, it didnt stop me on run 1 so its not stopping me now!

Ready and raring to go as soon as hubby came home so no time for excuses and off I went.

Had to think about route a little more due to lack of day light tonight which did lead me to a bit of a hill run at one point but I did it, yay!!! (More like a light jog going up, but I didn’t come to a complete standstill so bonus)

I dont know if it’s the early stages of adrenalin but theres something about putting in those ear phones and stepping out side that gives me a feeling of being in my own little world and then that acomplished feeling when I walk in the house.

Looking forward to completing week 1 with Run 3 on Sunday.

3/3/19 – First Run

Today was the day of my first run out of 27 across 9 weeks.

I began the morning determined, nothing was stopping me from making my start on my running journey starting with the Couch to 5k app as a guider.

So up I got, snufflie and chesty from being full of cold but I told myself I can do this! Plus I wanted to try out my new Cookie Monster Tikkaboo leggings I had treated myself to. I’d gone for something unusual as thought it might take the attention away from my expected face pulling actions whilst running. I had a big dilemma of do I eat before I go out and decided on cereal and a cuppa and half hour to let breakfast digest, glad I did I was starving at the end.

I set my Spotify going and the Couch to 5k app and off I went.

I have to admit when looking at the run ahead of today 20 minutes seemed like nothing, I’m not super fit but doing Zumba and Boogie bounce for 45 minutes twice a week surely 20 minutes would be a breeze. Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of it.

I loved how the app paced me through the first run with rest breaks of walking in between runs and also how it advised to jog not sprint, had I been starting alone I know I would have gone full pelt into sprinting (for 10 seconds) and then burned myself out, never to put on my running gear again! I finished feeling a little breathless (not helped with the cold, I think ) and knees a little achy but energised in a bizarr way. I did it!! and most strangely looking forward to day two on Tuesday.
