WEEK 4 RUN 3 30/3/19

If someone would have said I’d be be leaving group Saturday looking forward to pulling on a pair of Tikkiboos (I wouldn’t have even known what these were!) And going off out running 4 weeks ago I would have probably laughed.

But today I was looking forward to it.

Again Im focusing on going the distance not the speed and it seems to be working. Don’t get me wrong I can feel my knees and muscles working but not killing myself as much as I thought I would be.

I love how the app guides you through each week setting the pace and building up it really has helped and would recomend to anyone. I have to admit each and every run on completion leaves me with a sense of achiement and a step closer to my first 5k charity run in May.

Over half way, YAY!!!

WEEK 4 RUN 2 28/3/19

So decided to do an early one. Alarm set for 6am, cuppa and light breakfast of cherries and quark and out the door for 7am. Could have easily rolled over this morning and gone back to sleep but decided to stick to my commitment.

The weather was so deciving this morning. Sunshine was out but once I started I soon realised 5 mintues in I couldn’t feel my fingers (could have done with golves!) and the grass on the fields down the trail were white over.

Considering if a tube would be beneficial fr the early morning runs as I can feel the cold on my lungs.

I am finding particulary morning and evening runs going from cold outside when completed to warm indoors is leaving me with a wheeze, after being asthmatic in past wondering if now may be the time to visit gp regarding inhalers.

Apart from once back in house run went well and its amazing how much I seem to fit into a day when I get up to run early.

WEEK 4 RUN 1 26/3/19

Normally I run on Mondays once Suzie is at nursery but after 2 hours of Zumbathon on Sunday just wasnt feeling it so decided to take a rest day and run Tuesday evening instead.

I have to admit when I looked at what was to come this week I though how am I going to run for 5 whole minutes!!

It seemed such a big jump from 3 but I trusted the app and that I was ready for it.

I feel ive found a steady pace on this run. It may be a slow pace but for me its not about timings and personal bests (yet!) Its about building up to go the distance.

I even ran past someone I knew but was so engrossed in keeping my pace and my music it wasnt till down the road I realised. They must have thought I was so rude!

The last minute of the last 5 minute section ended up on a hill! Seriously need to plan my routes better 🤣🤣. I was determined no stopping no matter how slow and I did it!! Just wish the commentator wouldnt inform me at half way its amazing how long 2 1/2 minutes can seem.

Ive signed up for what will be my first 5k in May, was signed up for one in June but found an earlier one, the app takes me up to 2 weeks before so hoping I’ll be ready by then. Will keep going it seems to be working!

WEEK 3, RUN 3 23/3/19

Another day of fab weather.

Knees feeling a bit sore today, not from running from wearing my heeled boots for two days, but determined to stay on track with training and glad I finished week 3!! Yay!!!!

Think im learning to pace myself more on the running sessions and definetly feel the muscles and stamina building up in my legs even after only 3 weeks!

Good job since I’ve just signed up for my first 5k event in May a month earlier than my originally planned first event.

Bring on week 4 😁😁

WEEK 3 RUN 2 21/3/19

Never did I imagine me setting my alarm for 6am so I could get out for a run before the hubby went to work!

Normally my runs would be evening but due to hubbys prior engagements and my Zumbathon this week I knew fitting in my three runs was going to be tight. So decided to start this morning with run 2 of week 3.

I have to be honest I woke with my body feeling lethargic, after not having slept great for a few days due to a persistant cough I did contemplate getting back in bed for a second but my determination kicked in knowing I wouldnt finish week 3 in line if I didnt.

Bit nippy but not bad running conditions this morning and I soon warmed up.

The second three minutes felt like a lifetime today but I kept going at a steady pace and finished feeling like id acomplished something before the day had even begun.

I think I like early morning runs, may have to fot more in now its lighter mornings.

Week 3 Run 1 18/3/2019

What a great way to start the day. Sun shinning so no excuse not to start week 3 after dropping Suzie at nursery. I’m finding as the weeks go on I am continuously looking for days I can fit my runs in, planning them into my week.

I was so impressed today I ran for 3 minutes not once but twice!! It seems rarther minute compared to my running inspirations who are training for marathons but to me I’m farer along that I was 2 weeks ago.

Week 2, Run 3 16/3/19

I could have so easily used the weather and lack of voice as an excuse not to run today, after all I am a newby wind and rain are not the nicest running conditions but after a few words of wisdom from supportive friends I decided if I didnt do it it wouldn’t be the weather stopping me it would be me stopping me.

Off with my music in my ears I went, Mid second 90 second run and everything went quiet!!

Note to ones self check and charge equipment prior to running. Wireless earphones still need charging!! I panicked for five seconds watching the countdown on my phone for my next session of walking and then penny dropped to turn on the volume of the phone so I could hear it in my pocket enough to finish todays run.

Looking forward to week 3, bring it on!!

Week 2 Run 2 14/3/19

Forgot to post opps, i’ll never make a master blogger.

Tonight’s run felt easier, choose a different route as was dark by time I got out so stuck to roads well lit, still included a hill or 2.

I did encounter several of the killamarsh kestrals (local running group) Dressed in my bright yellow rain coat I kind of blended in with them. I think secretly in my mind I pretended I was striding along with them!! Lol, it lasted seconds as they all flew past me.

Bring on the next run, hopefully Saturday.

Week 2 run 1 – 11/3/19

Bit of a windy one today but determined to use my time wisley and get my first run of week 2 in. So I dropped Suzie off at nursery, yes in my cookie monster’s! I did feel the need to explain I was off for a run, no idea why but it felt quiet good to say I was going running.Had a companion today which suzie gave me before leaving her, called ted, he cheered me on from my pocket and my new trainers which I have to admit are very comfy. The runs were a little longer today but still managed to stick with it. Stuck to local paths today as knew the trail would be even sluggier the only downside was my last run started on a hill, didnt think that bit through so was a very slow jog but I did it!!!After returning home I became soo cold to the point my finger nails were blue and I was shivering. Apparently a side effect of the body cooling down.Hot bath soon sorted it. Evening of Zumba, may be more of a shuffle we shall see, looking forward to run 2 on Thursday.

WEEK 1 RUN 3, WEEK ONE DONE!!!

Not the best of weather today but having seen the forcast for tomorrow decided to go for it.

Off I went, I am really surprised how much I am enjoying it and how flexiable it is to fit in timewise. My saturday afternoon would normally consist of me returning hone around 2pm after group and becoming a couch potatoe unless anything planned ( no judgement I do get up at 5am) but this week I returned home, changed and went straight out telling myself no excuses.

I took the route I did on run 1 as plenty of light what I didnt anticipate is all the puddles and sludge on the track on way back. Have to admit at one point I wondered if my feet were actually making any progress or if I was running on the spot as felt like a car looks stuck in mud 🤣🤣🤣. Maybe a bit more forward thinking on route is needed for the not so good weather days.

It felt much easier today, not sure if thats because chesty cold is almost gone or me building up, dont get me wrong I still knew I’d done something.

Looking forward to starting week 2!
